In the rush to get into jobs, people are trying to prepare themselves according to the eligibility criteria. This is in fact a big truth about the choice of engineering subjects in the present world, and resultantly, the opening up of large number of colleges in the country. In recent years, the surge in the number of engineering jobs has been quite significant. Various kinds of such jobs are available for the students and other professionals in jobs already.
But the scenario of education is what has significantly changed, thus bringing up students who pass with engineering degrees. The foremost reason for the rise in engineering candidates was the introduction of many software companies into the country, which started picking up candidates from the colleges directly through campus placements. Engineering students were trained on the jobs, after recruitment, to work on various projects in accordance with the demands of the clients.
These software jobs were the starting point for the boom in engineering jobs. But before these jobs were seen in such a large scale, there were many jobs in the engineering stream, which were chosen by people as per their respective branches. It is common knowledge that the engineering streams include the subjects of mechanical, electrical, civil, electronics, telecommunications and so on.
Gradually, as more and more technological advancements were seen, many more subjects were added to the already large number of branches. Today, aeronautical engineering, marine engineering, plastic engineering, environmental engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, etc are some subjects that are found being picked up in the colleges by the aspiring students.
In contrast to the earlier days where people went for the core subject jobs, in the various departments of the government, presently, students are interested in picking up such engineering streams and are eyeing the jobs which are not conventional. Equipped with a management degree and having some knowledge of the engineering subjects, people are choosing the engineering jobs in various private and public sectors.
Since technological subjects are a requisite in many aspects of life, the growth of engineering jobs has always been there. But in recent years, the growth spurt has become exponential as people are having the choices to join the private sector as well as the public sector industries to pursue a promising career. In various streams in the government, people are choosing the engineering based jobs as their first choice. Be it the infrastructure industry, agriculture, road and development, public works department, or even executive posts in various offices, these jobs are increasing in number as the government is taking developmental projects throughout the country.
Students from different branches are picking up jobs and careers as per their core subject or are trying to build a career with an additional management degree. Better pay scales and perks by the government are enticing the students from very early days to join these jobs. Also, the private sectors are joining in the provisions of these jobs for the students who are interested in making careers in the engineering streams.
