Exam Pattern for CSE 2012: The exam pattern or structure for CSE exam 2012 Prelims consists of two papers which is of Objective type multiple choice questions.

Paper I is of General Studies which carries 200 marks and Paper II is an aptitude test which carries 200 marks. The medium of question papers will be set in Hindi and English. The time duration given for each paper is two hours. Paper II is of aptitude test. The priliminary examination is more or less like a screening examination for main examination. So the candidates who are qualified on the preliminary examination will be allowed for admission to Main Examination. The candidates have to keep in mind that there will be negative marking for Civil Services Priliminary Examination 2012 for objective type questions, so make sure of your answers before you attend the question.

Syllabus for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2012: The syllabus for Paper I in priliminary examination 2012 is as follows.

Paper I: General Science, Current Events of National and International importance, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social development and General Issues on Environment.

Paper II: English Language Comprehension, Interpersonal Skills, Logical Reasoning, Analytical reasoning, General mental ability, Numerical ability.

How to apply for UPSC Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2012

Application procedure for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2012 is that the candidates have to apply through online only and no other way is allowed.

Application Fees: The candidates who are eligible have to remit a fee of Rs. 50 either can be deposited in cash at any branch of SBI or can use net banking facility of SBI / State bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit cards. The candidates belongs to SC/ST/PH and female candidates need not pay any fees.

How to apply: The online application form for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2012 consists of two stages. Part I and Part II registration. After submitting your part 1 registration, you will get a registration Id. Please make a note of this Id which has to be entered for Online registration for Part II. The candidates have to keep ready their photograph and signature scanned before applying for online registration. The candidates have to complete their online registration for CSE 2012 for Part I and Part II before the last date which is on March 5th, 2012.
