In 1952 the Agurchand Manmull Jain College was established by the magnanimity and munificence of Padmasri Mohanmullji Chordia through the Shri. S.S. Jain Educational Society, at the inspiration of Her Holiness Shri Sayar Kanwarji Maharaj. The aim of the College is to provide qualitative higher education for young men and women of the Jain Community in particular and of all other communities in general. The college has celebrated its Golden Jubilee and is today a frontline top ranking Research and Post Graduate Institution. There are three Research Departments: Physics, Mathematics, Economics and Post Graduate Programmes in Commerce, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics and Physics and basic Graduate Programmes in eight major fields of study. Situated adjacent to the Meenambakkam Railway Station on the Beach-Tambaram line, the College is blessed with a magnificent and spacious campus, large and airy buildings, excellent infrastructure for games and sports, a well-stacked Library and a Canteen.
