HTML clipboard The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council was established to regulate the higher secondary education system of the state of Assam. The council was accepted by the act of the government of Assam. The Higher Secondary Education Act was accepted by the Honorable Governor of the state on the 16th of April in the year 1984 and the council started functioning from the 1st of June of the same year. The council is in charge of the supervision and development of the system of education in the higher secondary level in the state of Assam. The different schools of the state who impart higher secondary education were incorporated in the council. The council was vested with powers of prescribing the academic curriculum for the higher secondary classes in the schools and college imparting education at that level. The council also has the powers to conduct examination to award the certificate at the higher secondary. The council takes disciplinary actions against those students who fail to abide by the prescribed instructions and regulations of the council. The council has an elaborate administrative structure. The council is headed by the chairman who has the secretary of the council deputed under him. The council has separate departments of administration, academic course and the examination supervised by the joint secretaries and the controller of examination. The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council creates a platform for all students to receive the same education without discrimination at the higher secondary level. The certificate awarded by the council is recognized by the other councils of education in the country.
