<p class="mainbody style17">For those who have applied for admissions at <strong>Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU)</strong> this year, here is some good news. The University has significantly increased the number of seats for its various <strong>academic programmes for the 2008-09</strong> academic session. From 13,140 seats offered last year, the intake has been augmented to 13,956 this year, making it a total of 816 more seats in the forthcoming session, in comparison to previous year.</p>
<p class="mainbody style17">The University has revised the intake of its several sought after courses. This includes<em> BBA, in which 415 more seats have been added this year; B. Tech., with 280 more seats; BCA with 210 added seats; MCA will have 60 additional seats; 40 more seats have been added in B.A. LLB; and the Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication will include 30 additional seats, to mention the prominent ones.</em></p>
<p class="mainbody style17">The<strong> BBA </strong>intake has increased due to addition in the number of seats at its existing institutions including Chandra Prabhu Jain College of Higher Studies, Delhi Institute of Rural Development, Jagan International Management Institute, BLS Institute of Technology, and Trinity Institute of Professional Studies. Second shift in BBA has moreover, been started at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies, with an intake of 60 this year, besides the five existing institutions. The concept of evening shift has been introduced in the BCA programme as well from this year with 60 seats each at Jagannath International Management School and Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Management. Delhi Institute of Rural Development is also initiating BCA programme this year with an intake of 90.</p>
<p class="mainbody style17">Similarly, for<strong> B. Tech. programme, the number of seats has increased due to addition of two institutions</strong>. An existing affiliated institution, Ansal Institute of Technology will now offer B.Tech. programmes in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering & Information Technology, with an intake of 60 each. Delhi Institute of Tool Engineering is the new institution added this year to offer an unconventional B. Tech course in Tool Engineering with 40 seats.</p>
<p class="mainbody style17">Over 1, 61,000 students have applied for the different programmes of GGSIPU this year, which was an increase of 20% from last year.</p>
