On behalf of the Punjab Government, Punjabi University, Patiala will hold the Management Entrance Test hereafter referred to as MET-2008 and Punjab Admission to MCA Common Aptitude Test hereafter referred to as PAM-CAT-2008 on <strong>13th July 2008 (Sunday)</strong> for admission to <strong>MBA and MCA courses</strong> respectively in the Departments, Institutes and Colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjabi University, Patiala and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.<br><p><strong>2. Eligibility for Entrance Test</strong></p> <p align="justify">2.1. For Admission to the MBA/MCA courses through MET-2008, and PAM-CAT 2008, 85 % seats will be reserved for the residents of Punjab State and 15% seats will be open to candidates outside the State. </p> <p align="justify">2.2. The residence condition of Punjab Candidates as given in 2.1 above will be determined in terms of instructions issued by the Government of Punjab, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Personnel Policies Branch).</p> <p align="justify">2.3. Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examinations, whose result has not been declared, may be allowed to appear provisionally in the Entrance Test at their own risk and responsibility. Their candidature for admission to MBA/MCA course shall be considered only if they submit a duly attested copy of the detailed marks card/requisite certificate in original (stating the marks obtained) of the qualifying examination at the time of counseling. </p> <p align="justify">2.4. The candidature of all candidates to the Entrance Test shall be purely provisional. If on verification at a later stage, it is found that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility conditions, his/her candidature will be cancelled and he/she will have no claim, whatsoever, against the University/College. The candidates are, therefore advised in their own interest to go through the eligibility conditions carefully and make sure of their eligibility before appearing in the examination. <br></p><p><strong>Educational Qualification for Admission</strong></p> <p align="justify">As per the latest guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the basic educational qualifications for admission to these courses shall be as under:</p> <p><strong>For MBA Course</strong></p> <p align="justify">All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline. </p> <p><strong>For MCA Course</strong></p> <p align="justify">All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline, with Mathematics at 10+2 school level or have passed BCA of minimum three years duration from any recognized University.</p> <p align="justify">However, the eligibility criteria for admission including educational qualifications as specified by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjabi University, Patiala will be applicable for admission to the institutions/colleges affiliated to respective Universities. </p> <p><strong>3. Specific Eligibility Condition for Admission Laid Down by the respective Universities</strong></p> <p><strong>A. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar</strong></p> <p><strong>For MBA</strong></p> <p align="justify">Bachelor's degree in any stream with no less than 50% marks.</p> <p><strong>For MCA</strong></p> <p align="justify">BBA/B.Com./B.Com (Professional) /B.Sc. (Hons.) Economics or Graduate in any stream with Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Sciences / Computer Applications / IT / Computer Maintenance / Quantitative Techniques as one of the elective subjects with 50% marks in aggregate or any equivalent degree thereto. </p> <p align="justify">Bachelor's degree in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate with Mathematics as an elective subject at +2 level. </p> <p>B. Panjabi University, Patiala</p> <p><strong>For MBA</strong></p> <p align="justify">Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the Bachelors/Masters Degree examination (45% marks for SC/ST and physically handicapped with at least 40% disability). </p> <p><strong>For MCA</strong></p> <p align="justify">Candidate who have passed the Bachelor's degree (10+2+3)/BCA in any discipline of the statutory University with 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST and physically handicapped with at least 40% disability).</p> <p align="justify">The candidates must have passed the senior secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination or higher degree examination with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics/Business Statistics/Quantitative Techniques or equivalent as compulsory/optional/additional subject or paper. <br></p><p><strong>C. Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar</strong></p> <p><strong>For MBA</strong></p> <p align="justify">Candidates should have passed any recognized Bachelor's Degree of recognized by association of Indian Universities.</p> <p><strong>For MCA</strong></p> <p align="justify">All those candidates who have passed any recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Mathematics / Business Statistics / Quantitative Techniques as Compulsory / Optional / Additional Paper as one of the subjects either at 10+2 or at graduation level.</p><p><strong>4. Submission of Application Form</strong></p> <p align="justify">4.1 The Application Form-A duly filled in the candidate's handwriting in capital letters should be submitted at MBA/MCA Entrance Test Cell, Department of Commerce Arts, Block No 6, Punjabi University, Patiala along with the following document: </p> a. A Bank Draft of Rs.1000/-(Rs.750/ for SC/ST candidates/Physically Handicapped candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, Payable at Patiala be tagged on the front of Application Form-A. In case of computer downloaded form, the bank draft should be of Rs.1600/- (Rs.1350/- for SC/ST& Physically Handicapped)<br><div align="justify">b. Candidate must write his/her name, address and the Application Form-A number on the back of the Bank Draft.</div> <div align="justify">c. A candidate is permitted to appear in both MBA and MCA entrance test simultaneously with the same examination fee.</div> <div align="justify">d. Computer Form, not tagged, be submitted in loose form along with Application Form-A.</div> <div align="justify">e. Attendance-cum-Identification Form and Admit Card duly filled be submitted in loose form along with Application Form-A. </div> <div align="justify">f. Mode of submission of application form shall be either personally or by Registered Post.</div> <div align="justify">g. Punjabi University, Patiala does not take any responsibility for any postal elay or loss of the application in transit.</div> <p><strong>5. Centres for MBA/ MCA Entrance Test</strong></p> <p align="justify">5.1 The Entrance test 2008 will be held on <strong>July 13, 2008 (Sunday)</strong> at the following Centre.</p> <ol><li>Amritsar</li><li>Bathinda</li><li>Chandigarh</li><li>Firozepur</li><li>Gurdaspur</li><li>Hoshiarpur</li><li>Jalandhar</li><li>Ludhiana</li><li>Patiala</li><li>Sangrur</li></ol> <p><strong>5.2 Allotment of Centre</strong></p> <ol type="i"><li><div align="justify">Each candidate shall give only one choice of Examination Centre. While every effort will be made to allot the centre of his/her choice exercised by him/her, the Coordinator reserves the right to allot a different centre to a candidate, if the circumstances so warrant. </div></li><li><div align="justify">If the number of candidates opting for a particular city is less than 100, the examination centre in that city may be withdrawn and the candidates may be allotted another centre as per the administrative convenience. </div></li><li><div align="justify">The exact venue of Examination Centre shall be indicated on the Admit Card. The candidate must retain the Admit Card for its subsequent use at the time of counseling.</div></li><li><div align="justify"> Examination centre once allotted will not be changed in any circumstance.</div></li></ol><br><p><strong>Important Instruction for Entrance Test</strong></p> <p align="justify"><strong>A.</strong> The Application Form-A duly filled in the candidate's handwriting in capital letters should reach at MBA/MCA Entrance Test Cell, Department of Commerce, Arts Block No. 6 (Second Floor), Punjabi University, Patiala along with the following documents. </p> <ul><li><div align="justify">A Bank Draft of Rs.1000/-(Rs.750/ for SC/ST candidates/Physically Handicapped candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, Payable at Patiala be tagged on the front of Application Form-A. In case of computer downloaded form, the bank draft should be of Rs.1600/- (Rs.1350/- for SC/ST & Physically Handicapped).</div></li></ul><br><ul><li><div align="justify">Computer Form, not tagged, be submitted in loose form along with Application Form-A.</div></li><li><div align="justify"> Attendance-cum-Identification Form and Admit Card duly filled be submitted along with Application Form-A.</div></li></ul> <p align="justify"><strong>B.</strong> The Attested Copies of the following documents be attached with Application Form-A</p> <ul><li>Matriculation certificate.</li><li>10+2 Detailed Marks Certificate.</li><li>Qualifying Examination Certificate.</li><li>Reserve Category Certificate, if any.</li><li>Residence Certificate.</li><li><div align="justify">Three attested passport size photographs be pasted with gum respectively in the designated space on the Application form-A, Admit Card and Attendance-cum- Identification Form.</div></li><li><div align="justify">One unattested photograph be pasted on the Computer Form at the designated space</div></li><li><div align="justify"> Mode of submission of Application Form shall be either personally or through Registered Post.</div></li><li><div align="justify">Two self addressed envelopes (9"x5") with postage stamps of Rs. 5 each.</div></li></ul> <p><strong><strong>C.</strong> For Late Fee Candidates:</strong></p> <p align="justify">Admit Card and Roll Number along with centre will be issued on the spot to candidates who submit Application Form-A with relevant late fee (complete in all respects) at the MBA/MCA Entrance Test Cell, Department of Commerce (Second Floor) Arts Block No. 6, Punjabi University, Patiala. Such candidates shall apply personally and not through the post. </p> <p align="justify"><strong>D.</strong> Mode of payment of fee including late fee shall be by Bank Draft drawn in favour of Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, and Payable at Patiala. Cash payment/Cheque shall not be accepted. </p><br>
