Ciena India Private Ltd
Ciena' Corporation, the network specialist, expanded its global
presence with the launch of a R&D centre located in Gurgaon, India. The
95,000 square foot facility is Ciena's first core research and
development centre outside of North America, and is expected to employ
more than 300 product development engineers within the next three years.
Ciena's Gurgaon R&D Centre will focus on technologies such as Storage
Extension and Optical Transport, including ultra long-haul, long-haul,
regional and metropolitan applications, as well as Multiservice
Switching, Broadband Access and Network Management. The Gurgaon Centre
will supplement and work collaboratively with Ciena's existing research
and development organization in North America.

| Job Description |
Develop and execute test cases in the following areas:
SONET/ SDH, DWDM, Fiber Channel, Ethernet, performance management, fault
management, and associated EMS/NMS.
Consults with hardware and software engineering staff to identify and
document functional interfaces and requirements to perform operational
and performance testing at the module and overall system levels.
Confers with hardware and software engineering personnel to resolve
problems related to specifications and associated test plans/procedures.
Formulates, designs, and codes automated software test systems, using
scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure
outcome and consequences of design where applicable.
Work with customer certification test group on all levels of testing:
component level testing, module level testing, system level testing,
network level testing.
Analyze test results and prepare test reports. |
| Desired Profile |
Knowledge in at least any three of the following
technologies: SONET/SDH, DWDM, Ethernet, VCAT/LCAS, ATM, SAN, Fiber
Channel
Ability to develop test plans/procedures and subsequent test script code
for automated functional, stress, acceptance, and regression testing of
optical transport systems and modules.
Ability to resolve complex issues that may require design trade-offs and
adequately document test progress and results.
Technical skills a must, inter-personal skills equally important.
Independent self starter and committed to delivering on aggressive
deadlines.
Comfortable in a team environment with ability to work with little
supervision.
Must have ability to understand customer's perspective.
Strong commitment to product excellence.
Previous test and development experience with any two:
UNIX/Linux/Windows NT, C/C++, TCL/TK/Expect. Knowledge in SILK and
LabVIEW are a plus.
Knowledge of Fiber Channel, SAN device and storage equipment would be an
advantage.
Background in systems design is a plus.
Proficient with a wide range of SONET/SDH, OTN and data networking test
equipment.
Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer
Science, or Optical Communications or relevant work experience.
4+ years of experience in production and systems test. |
