Worst Performance of BJP after 1999 General Elections

The Indian National Congress has performed really well in these general elections - probably the best since last few decades. The party, which was continuously declining, got enthused with new life, with the arrival of Rahul Gandhi. On the other hand, the Bhartiya Janata Party has not fared well in these elections, in fact, its their worst performance after the 1999 elections.

Many believe that had it been any other leader for BJP Prime Ministerial Candidate, other than LK Advani, BJP would have performed better. You should remember that Sri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was considered as a very moderate leader, and even the leaders from the other parties never used to criticize him personally. But that charisma is lacking somewhere in LK Advani, and that may be a major reason for lack luster performance by the BJP.
