The origin of name of College is : Amichand Piarelal Jalandhar, a reputed firm of Jalandhar. The Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University was established in 1975 under the aegis of Apeejay Education Society, New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Seth Stya Paul Ji. Ever since its inception, the college has progressed by leaps and bounds. Primarily set with the objective of promoting the art and culture of India, the college is now at its full bloom, imparting knowledge in the latest courses and disciplines viz. Fine Arts, Management, Commerce, Multi-media, Information Technology, Computer Science and Design.
Apeejay College of Fine Arts was started in 1975 with the objective of promoting fine arts. Considering the fast changing education scenario of the country, other career oriented UG, PG and PG diploma courses in Information Technology, Management, Commerce and Design were started in the college subsequently. Apart from general English, Punjabi and History and Culture of Punjab, and compulsory English or Hindi or Punjabi languages, college offers variety of subjects under Music, Fine Arts, Commerce and Management, Design, Computer Science and Information Technology departments. It offers courses such as bachelor of arts, bachelor of commerce, bachelor of commerce (professional), bachelor of business administration, bachelor of computer applications, bachelor of science (economics), bachelor of science (information technology), bachelor of design B.D. Specialisation in Textile design, fashion design and Interior design, bachelor of computer aided management and bachelor of multi media at U.G. level. Similarly, the courses such as master of arts (music vocal), master of arts (music instrumental), master of fine arts (drawing and painting), master of arts (Indian Classical dance), master of commerce (accounting and finance), master of information technology and master of science (information technology) are offered at P.G. level. Apart from this the college also has one year P.G. Diploma courses in computer applications and commercial art. Students have the option for subjects like social sciences, philosophy, political science, psychology, physical education and mathematics at U. G. level. All these courses and programmes were introduced subsequently from 1996 onwards. |
