CEDT is located in the sprawling campus of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. CEDT was established in 1975 with the support of the then Department of Electronics, Government of India and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, SDC.
CEDT offers M.Tech in electronics design and technology and M.E. in microelectronics. These courses are of 2-year duration effective August 2002. CEDT also offers research programs- PhD and M.Sc.(Engg).
The Electronics Systems Packaging Group at CEDT has the unique feature of having modeled a structured academic course in electronics packaging in tune with the universities abroad that are pioneers in this growing field. CEDT is the only institution in India where considerable hands-on experience is given to post-graduate students in electronics packaging, which includes CAD, manufacturing, assembly, electrical test and thermo-mechanical reliability.
