Charuchandra College has been christened after Late Charuchandra Chattopadhyay, a notable Indian nationalist. The college was founded on 1st october 1947, with Dr. S. N. Ray as the first Principal. This co-educational college started with courses in Interme4diate Arts and Science and Degree Arts. Presently, the college runs Honours and General Courses in English, Bengali, Political Science, Economics, Physics,Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology. Besides, the institution olso runs General Courses in Education, Philosiphy, History, Statistics and Journalism and Mass Communication. The college has Introduced B. Com. Honours and General courses exclusively for girls, in Morning Section since August 2002. The college is accredited by the National Assesment and Accreditation Council(NAAC]).
