It was established in 1942 for advanced training in Visual art, both creative and applied, leading to the Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degree of four years duration in the disciplines of Painting, Sculpture and Applied Art, at the under-graduate level and a post-graduate degree of Master in Fine Art (MFA) in the above mentioned disciplines of two years duration. The College is affiliated to the University of Delhi under the Faculty of Music and Fine Art for all academic purposes, and is wholly administered by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. The objective of the teaching programme and training in the College is to achieve an overall refinement of the Student's perception not confined to the skills of the profession alone but also to create the right kind of intellect as well as emotional cultivation to arrive at level of composite creativity and thought. Those who graduate are employed as designers and visualizes in advertising and presentations or serve as teachers or administrators of Art programs.
