The college was established in 1996 as a result of the hearty co-operation of the inhabitants of Rajarhat locality and the sincere effort and strict supervision of Sri Rabindranath Mondal, MLA and President of the College G.B. It is exemplary that peaple belonging to different strata of the society donated blood and collected money to raise funds for the establishment of the college. The foundation of the college is marked by the earnest desire of various eminent personalities and associations to promote higher education in the locality. The college was named by the renowned leader Sri Biman Bose. On 8th March, 1996 the foundation stone of the new college building was laid by the then Higher Education Minister, Sri Satyasadhan Chakraborty. Initially, evening classes were held at Ramkumar Kamala Vidyalaya in Kali Park.
