Established by Govt. of Maharashtra in year 1989, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University is one of the premier technological Universities in the country. It is an autonomous and unitary (non-affiliating) University with full funding from State Government. Situated in the vicinity of historic Raigad Fort and surrounded by the hills of Sahyadri Range. The 500 acre terrain of the University campus has all the picturesqueness of the Konkan. At present, the University conducts six M. Tech. and seven B.Tech. programmes in Engineering and Technology. Ph.D. programmes in various disciplines of Engineering and Technology have been introduced from last academic year. The University proposes to establish 'schools' and �Centres of Excellence� in various need based areas in the near future.
