About College
The College was started in the year 1980 as B.L.D.E. Association�s Engg. College and renamed as Vachana Pitamaha Dr. P. G. Halagatti College of Engineering in 1995. With in a span of 20 years it became one of the well-developed Engineering Colleges in Karnataka.
The college has an excellent team of competent and well-qualified teachers. Under the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) the college encourages its staff to pursue higher studies and engage in Research. Seminars, Workshops, etc., are regularly conducted in the college. Guest speakers of repute are invited periodically to address students in their fields of specialisation. Study tours to industries are arranged for students.
Apart from imparting excellent technical knowledge to the students, the college encourages co-curricular activities in the field of sports and culture. The college has the rare privilege of organising the Karnataka University Inter Collegiate Athletic Sports Meet in 1997 and was acclaimed as one of the best athletic meets under K.U. Dharwar. The students participate in State and National level events like projects, seminars, exhibitions, technical paper contest and have won several awards.
The college has extensive library, laboratory and workshop facilities for all branches of engineering. While each department has adequate standard prescribed equipment and computer facilities, the Mechanical Department has in addition, Computer Aided Design (CAD) Lab, CNC Lathe and Computerised Engine Laboratory.
The college has a placement cell under the charge of a placement officer. The cell arranges career guidance programmes for the final year and pre-final year students. This has proved exceptionally useful in shaping their career. Testing and consultancy services are being extended. Regular staff development programmes are held. Alumni of this college are holding high positions in society.
