The Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) was founded in 1957 as a non-profit organization and a registered Society for propagating the profession of Industrial Engineering in India and is a Registered Public Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. It is dedicated to the advancement of Industrial Engineering education and practice and to the application of such scientific knowledge for development of industry and society. The Institution has twenty four chapters distributed all over India. the Graduateship Examination conducted by the Institution is recognized by the Government of India at par with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from a recognized Indian University for the purposes of recruitment to superior post and services under the Central Government. The IIIE has instituted may honours and award for various achievements and outstanding contribution to the Industrial Engineering Profession.
