Iqbal College, Peringamala is named after the great poet and philospher, Dr. Sir. Allama Mohamed Iqbal 'the poet of the East'. It was started as a junior college in 1964 in the Peringamala village with Sri. C.H. Mohammed Koya, the former Chief Minister of Kerala, as its Patron. Various extension programes are regularly organised by the extension wings of the college, such as N.S.S., N.C.C., Adult and population Education, Planning Fourm and Coaching Centre.
