About College
Late Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaja had opened the doors of education, not only in Kolhapur but throughout the state of Maharashtra, with a noble spirit of spreading the education among the masses; to free people from poverty and superstitions; to establish social and economic equality in society. The Chhatrapati, not only opened Hostels for different communities, but donated generously huge properties for the existence and growth of such institutions and for keeping perpetuality in their committed work. Inspired and motivated by these noble ideals, the then social workers late Shri. Mohanraoji Raorane, late Shri. Dinkarraoji Shinde, late Shahir Shardul Bhausaheb Patil, Shri. D.A. Shinde, Late Shri. K.B. Mahadik, Late Shri. S.D. Patil, Shri. R.Y. Shinde and the like started. Shri. Shahu Shikshan Prasarak Mandal with the same noble objectives of social, educational and economic up liftment of the common man on the 22nd of June 1942
