The Institute(Coordinates: 23�32'54"N 87�17'29"E ) is located about 180 km north-west of Kolkata / Calcutta on the Howrah-Delhi railway route and overlooking the Grand Trunk Road. The Institute spreads over an area of 187 acres (76 ha) of land. It is fully residential and co-educational. At present about 2300 boys and 400 girls reside in seven boys' hostels and two girls' hostels. The annual undergraduate intake is about 550 students. The Institute is a deemed university which awards under graduate (B.Tech.) and post graduate / master (M.Tech, M.C.A, M.B.A and Ph.D.) degrees to students after their successful completion of the specified courses. The college imparts education in the disciplines of Bio Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (including MCA), Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering.
