Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women,named after the great social reformer THANTHAI PERIYAR and his wife ANNAI MANIAMMAI, was founded in November 1988 at Vallam by the Periyar Maniammai Educational and Charitable Society,Chennai. After THANTHAI PERIYAR and ANNAI MANIAMMAIYAR, their illustrious successor Thiru K.VEERAMANI M.A.,B.L has taken up the Herculean task of ushering young women into technical education and to a new era of scientific temperament by founding this institution exclusively for women in the whole of World. The college has its specific aim of imparting technical education to women students by providing all necessary facilities both academic and co-curricular and thus benefiting them to be self-reliant individuals in this ever developing competitive world. The college offers instructions in Civil Engineering., Electronics and Communication Engineering. , Computer Science and Engineering. , Information Technology., Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Bio-Technology leading to B.E./B.Tech degree in addition to M.C.A. , M.Sc Software Engineering , M.E Software Engineering, M.E Computer and Communication, M.E Environmental Engineering. Also B.Arch course of five years duration is launched from 1995-96 and P.G Diploma Course on Environmental Technology and Management from 2001-02 onwards.
