The genesis of the College has to be traced back to the historical visit of the Holy Father Pope John Paul II, the reigning Pope, to our motherland in 1986. By ushering the B.Ed., College into existence, the Archdiocese had opened a new chapter in the annals of its educational service for the people of the Union Territory of Pondicherry in particular and for others in general. Consequently, the first College of the Archdiocese as well as the first College of Education of the Union Territory took shape. In honour of the Holy Father, the College was named after him. It stands as a monument espousing the values of the Pontiff.
