Regional Institute of Engineering, popularly known as "R. I. E." is a pioneer in the field of technical education. The very existence of the Institute in this highly competitive area that too in the capital city of Kerala for more than two decades itself is an ample testimony for the efficiency and dedication devoted to the cause it stands for. The inception of the Institute in the year 1986 was subjected to severe criticisms from various corners, for the coaching imparted here are for courses recognized by Govt. of India, conducted by autonomous professional bodies which were till then unheard of at least in this part of the country. The institute has its own hostel facilities for boy and girls. Hostel for girls is situated in the premises of the Institute and the boys hostel, about 3Kms far and conveyance is provided to them in the college bus, free of cost.
