Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (now known as Saveetha University) was established on behalf of Saveetha Medical & Educational Trust in 1988. The institute was the brain child of Dr. N.M.Veeraiyan, the founder president of the trust, who had a vision to build a model Dental College for the betterment of Dental education in this country.
After the establishment of Dental College, the trust planned for establishing a Basic Sciences Block which came into existence in 1989. In 1992 the sophisticated OP department/clinics came into existence, which was followed shortly by the farewell of our 1st Batch of students in October 1993. A prestigious day in the history of this college dawned in 1995 � 96 academic year, when the post-graduate courses were started.
The Dental College, for its academic excellence, has been given the highest score among all dental colleges in the state by the High Level Committee appointed by Government of Tamil Nadu. It is also a fact of pride for the institute that the University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh has selected Saveetha University as a model Dental institution in the country. The institute has also been recognized internationally.
