Late Padamshri Shyam Lal Gupta founded Shyam Lal College in 1964 in the capacity of the Chairman, Shyam Lal Charitable Trust. It is now a full-fledged constituent college of University of Delhi imparting instruction in Commerce and Humanities to over a thousand students. Its alumni are serving varied professions, ranging from civil services, corporate to teaching. Housed in a spacious building of its own on G.T.Road, it is the oldest college in East Delhi.
