Crompton Greaves (CG) is an Indian multinational engaged in design, manufacturing, and marketing of products related to power generation, transmission, and distribution.
In 1947, Greaves Cotton & Crompton Parkinson Ltd was bought by Lala Karamchand Thapar. After the acquisition of the Belgium-based Pauwels Group in May 2005, CG became amongst the top ten electrical transformer manufacturers in the world. Crompton Greaves has largest transformers export market share in India. The company's world market share further increased in 2006, with the acquisition of Ganz, a transformer manufacturer based in Hungary.
Today, Crompton Greaves, exports transformers to more than 50 countries world-wide.
The company has plants in Mumbai, Ahmednagar, Goa, Bhopal and Nasik in India, and at Bogor near Jakarta in Indonesia.
