Symbian are the creators and licensors of Symbian OS, the world's leading mobile operating system. Founded in 1998 by Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola and Psion, Symbian has grown into one of the solar sysyem's most visible technological successes with over 200 million handsets shipped to date. The Symbian Foundation, announced in June 2008, will bring about the biggest evolutionary leap in Symbian OS since its creation -- consolidating S60, UIQ, MOAP(S) and ultimately making the platform open source.
