Understanding business requirements (customers, competition, delivery capability and therefore offering roadmap and extensions)Understanding the underlying technology toolsets (what is being internally applied currently and also what is available in the marketplace)Converting the business requirements into engineering requirements
Prioritizing the requirements and converting them into (make, buy, collaborate) decisions
Understanding and validating the 'sizing'estimations of the bug fix, development or optimization efforts
