Pro/ENGINEER is a parametric, integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE solution created by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). It was the first, parametric, feature-based, associative solid modeling software on the market. The application runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux and UNIX platforms, and provides solid modeling, assembly modelling and drafting, finite element analysis, and NC and tooling functionality for mechanical engineers.A typical Pro/ENGINEER software package is made up of different modules, customizable to the customer's specific needs. Pro/ENGINEER is available in a pre-packaged set of scalable packages which include a broad range of 3D CAD, CAID, CAE, data management and other design related capabilities. The base offering is the Pro/ENGINEER Foundation Extended Edition (XE) package which includes 3D solid modeling, 2D/3D drawings, surfacing, assembly, sheet metal, data interoperability, mechanism design, and other capabilities. Advanced capabilities can also be purchased in separate modules ala carte.
