Job or Vacancy Description:
Applications are invited for the post of Director General, ERNET India, New Delhi in the HAG scale of Rs. 67,000 (annual increment @3%)-79,000 (with allowances as per Central Govt. Rules). The post is proposed to be filled up by Direct Recruitment / Transfer (absorption). The appointment would be for a tenure not exceeding five years or till date of retirement on superannuation, whichever is earlier.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
A. Direct Recruitment : Bachelor/Master degree in Technology/Engineering or equivalent or Ph.D in the field of Electronics/Electrical/Electronics & Communications/Tele-communications/Computer Science/Physics with specialization in Electronics.
Experience in the areas of Computer Communication :
25 years for B.E/B.Tech OR equivalent
20 years for M.E/M.Tech OR equivalent
15 years for Ph.D
Desirable Experience : 5 years experience in the field of Computer / Computer Networking.
B. Transfer (Absorption) : In case of transfer (absorption), officers of Central/State Govt./PSUs/ Autonomous bodies will be eligible,
a) Holding analogous post on regular basis OR having 5 years regular service in the scale of pay of Rs.s 37,400-67,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000/- (PB-4) (Pre-revised Scale of Rs. 18,400-22,400)
b) possessing the qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment.

General Instructions:
1. 2. Persons working in Government/PSUs/Autonomous Organizations and desirous of applying on Transfer ( absorption) basis, may send their applications through proper channel, along with photocopies of ACRs of the last five years duly attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary
3. The Integrity of the officer may also be certified along with a certificate that no minor/major penalty has been imposed on him during the last 10 years. Applications received directly will not be entertained.
4.Applications which are not in conformity with the requirements indicated in the advertisement are liable to be rejected.Only short-listed candidates will be called in for interview. Mere fulfilling of requirements as laid down in the advertisement does not qualify a candidate for interview.
5. The Director General shall be responsible for overall management and running of ERNET India under the overall guidance of the Governing Council.The Director General shall be required to lead a group of about 100 professionally qualified technocrats and management professionals.
6. He shall be responsible for preparation of Annual Plans, Budget etc. of the Society.The Director General shall exercise such executive and financial powers as contained in the ERNET India Charter or delegated to him by the Governing Council.
7. ERNET India, an Autonomous Scientific Society under DeitY, has been set up with the main objectives of developing, setting up and operating a nationwide state-of-art Computer Communication infrastructure, to undertake and promote education,
