Nizamabad is a district in Andhra Pradesh, India. The Boundaries of Nizamabad district are Karimnagar district, Medak district, Nandhedu district in Maharastra state and Adilabad district in the East, South, West and North directions respectively.
Nizamabad was formed in 1905 and was known as Indhrapuri or Indhur. Its global location is between 18-5' and 19' of the Northern latitudes, 77-40' and 78-37' of the Eastern longitudes. According to the 2001 census the total area covering Nizamabad is 7956 square kilometers. As registered in the 2001 census, the population density ratio was 294 persons per square kilometers and the literacy rate in the district was 56.26%. Nizamabad District is divided into Three Revenue Divisions. Nizamabad, Kamareddy and Bodhan are further divided into 36 mandals.
Nizamabad has 1505 schools, 29 colleges; two post graduate colleges, four Engineering colleges and two Govt. Polytechnics.
