Thoothukudi Tamil also known as Tuticorin, is a city and a Municipal corporation in Thoothukudi district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the seventh largest city in Tamil Nadu after Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy,Salem and Tirunelveli . Tuticorin is the headquarters of Thoothukudi District.
The Tuticorin is also known as "Pearl City". It is a Seaport which serves Southern Tamil Nadu including the inland cities of Coimbatore, Madurai and Tirunelveli. It is one of the major seaports in India with its history dating back to the 6th century.
