Atlas Copco (India) Ltd. is a public limited company and is a part of Swedish multinational Atlas Copco AB. The Company was incorporated in the year 1960 as a private limited company. It became a public limited company in the year 1972 and was renamed as Atlas Copco (India) Ltd.
In the year 2000, Chicago Pneumatic (India) Ltd., another Atlas Copco Group Company, was merged with Atlas Copco (India) Ltd. The Atlas Copco Group currently holds 83.77% of the share capital and the rest is held by Indian public.
Atlas Copco AB, Sweden, operates worldwide with manufacturing facilities in 14 countries and sales, service and rental operations in over 70 countries. It recorded a sales turnover of SEK 48,654 million and the operating margin was 13.8% for the year 2004. The group employs over 25,000 people.
Atlas Copco (India) Ltd. is engaged in manufacture and sale of Air & Gas Compressors, Construction & Mining Equipment and Industrial Tools. It has manufacturing facilities located at Pune and Nasik and sales and service offices spread all over the country. The Company has a diverse portfolio of products and markets its products under two brands, viz., Atlas Copco and Chicago Pneumatic. The Company employs about 975 people directly and almost 30 % of them are out in the field, closer to the customer.
Atlas Copco (India) Ltd achieved a revenue of Rs. 4076 million and operating margin of 17% for the year 2004.
